“WE, SEASONAL WORKERS”
Guided tour of Geneva by Jeanne Gillard and Patrick Auderset, co-organizer
Sat., 09/13/2025 3:00–4:30 PM & Sun., 09/14/2025 3:00–4:30 PM
“WE, SEASONAL WORKERS” is a memorial, historical, and artistic tour of Geneva. This exhibition takes the form of signage located at fourteen specific sites throughout the city. Combined with an online platform that can be viewed on a smartphone, they provide access to in situ audio narratives composed of testimonies, personal archives, documents, and historical insights. Exposing the past of seasonal workers in public spaces allows the voices of a choral narrative to resonate within the city itself, while inviting the population to take a different look at Geneva and the migrations of yesterday and today. Two seven-stop tour itineraries will introduce you to the living and working conditions of seasonal workers, as well as the struggles waged to abolish this controversial status, in effect in Switzerland between 1931 and 2002.
